Winfield

Growing smart in harmony, with nature

Settlers discovered Wheaton in the early 1800's, during this time the town had primarily a German speaking population. What started out to be a Prairie town that was struggling to develop during the 1800's turned into a vibrant, livable village. During this time a pond was dug between Park Street and Summit Avenue, the pond was placed there to provide harvest ice in the winter. The pond is still present in Winfield today, it is now home to ducks, geese, muskrat, crayfish and frogs, but the pond is currently on private property. Winfield has recently developed a Riverwalk for the town, which is a beautifully landscaped path for joggers, walkers and bikers. The purpose for this path is get hundreds upon thousands of people to use this path to get to and from different towns. Top employers in Winfield include Cadence Health, Central DuPage Hospital and Walgreens.
