Wheaton is a blend of big-city comforts and small-town charm that make the town an excellent place to live, work, shop and play

Wheaton was discovered in the 1830's by three men who traveled there and claimed hundreds of acres in Wheaton. The founders allowed a railway system to run through Wheaton and shortly after that started giving away land to anyone that was willing to build right away. Once the railway was part of the town and people started to build on the land, Wheaton area really began to grow. An important establishment that was developed in Wheaton and is still in service today is Wheaton College, it was formerly known as the Illinois Institute. Today, the central business district in addition to three establishments that were developed during Wheaton's earlier days have still continue to serve Wheaton residents 150 years later. For run residents can enjoy the downtown area of Wheaton, which is home to probably one of narrowest stores in Chicagoland- a popcorn and candy shop. Wheaton also offers the Town Square Shopping Center, the popular French market and beautiful parks and recreational activities for residents and visitors to enjoy.
