In the mid-1800's Native Americans known as the Ojibwe tribe were the first to make Fox River Grove their home. They used this area as a place for their winter home. The area became known as a vacation spot, because of this area being a tourist destination there were a few landmarks that were built in the early 1900's that are still up and running today, those landmarks include; The Norge Ski Jump and Club, The Old Grove Theatre and The Crystal Ballroom. Today Fox River Grove has over 100 acres of parks and open land and it home to the well known Bettendorf castle, which was built with stones by hand. One of the top employers in River Grove is School District U-46.
