The town of Cary, which once was a farming town only, has slowly developed over the years. Even with the town’s housing development over the years, Cary still has maintained its small-town charm with a historical feel. In the late 1800’s pickles, cheese, gravel and other products were shipped from Cary to Chicago from what is now known as Cary Train Station. Cary schools are part of award-winning school districts. The 2011 Illinois State Report card lists the graduation rate as greater than 94%. The community center in Cary has a lot to offer their residents. There is a wide range of activities and programs offered to all ages, along with recreational activities such as a swimming pool, golf course, fitness center, parks and nature areas. The first population census in 1900 identified 398 residents in Cary.
