A working person’s town

 
In the mid-1800’s Carpentersville was founded by two brothers, The Carpenter Brothers, who were passing through on their ox-drawn prairie schooner. The town was first named Carpenters’ Grove and in 1851 the name Carpentersville became official. Carpentersville is now known as the working person’s town and is considered the largest community in Dundee Township. In the summer residents can enjoy Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center or participate in the community garden, which is available for anyone that is unable to have a garden in their own yard. 
 
2010 population census 37,691

Fun Fact: 
In the early 1800’s it was a flood that delayed a family traveling through that brought the village of Carpentersville about.
