Carol Stream

A great place to live and work 

In the mid-1800's land in this area was discovered by a farmer who came to do some work, a few years later, a man named Vermonter Daniel came to Carol Stream and purchased 1,400 acres in land and built his life there with his wife and 11 children. He later on donated land for the railway system, in which the area around the railway was later known as Gretna. Carol Stream became official in 1959 and was named after the developer's daughter. Starting in the mid 1900's Carol Stream had a slow, but steady start, the first residents moved into Carol Stream in 1958. In the years to follow there was the development of the library, The Carol Stream Park District was formed and the opening of Glenbard North High School. Today Carol Stream is home to many corporate offices, a modern library, residential developments as well as one of the largest parks and recreation centers, which includes 36 parks and playgrounds.Top employers in Carol Stream include Peacock Engineering, Futaba Industrial and FedEx Ground.
