Arlington Heights

Small town charm, big city amenitites

Arlington Heights was incorporated as a town in 1887. The town started out with a population of 1000 with a cheese factory, a blacksmith and a hotel. By the start of the 20th century, Arlington Heights had started to build up. By this time, Arlington Park (Arlington Race Track) was developed along with Camp McDonald and two country clubs. In the 1950's and 1960's with the baby boom, the increase in automobile ownership and the growth of the economy, the town had a population explosion. Over time with the increase in population, the town of Arlington Heights has seen many changes; one of them being the increase in development of condos, restaurants and other businesses. Many people come to Arlington Heights to visit the Arlington Race Track and have been doing so since the early 1800's when it was first developed. Top employers include Arlington park, Northwest Community Hospital and Level 3 Communications.
